I’ve been talking a LOT about masterminds and mentors over the past year because they have impacted my life and business more than I can describe.
But how do you know if you’re ready for something like a mastermind or a coach/mentor?
I joined my first mastermind when I was at a point where Powerhouse Women was growing, and I know that I would be the only thing that got in the way of it REALLY scaling that year. The growth that was happening at the time was amazing, but confronting AF because it challenged me to think bigger and get outside my comfort zone. I knew that intentionally putting myself around people on the same path who would challenge me and hold me accountable was the only way to make sure I didn’t get in the way of the impact Powerhouse Women was supposed to make. That’s when I knew I was ready to invest in a mastermind.
Now I’ll be real with you, the financial investment didn’t make logical sense when I looked at my bank balance at the time—but I saw it as an investment in the business and person I wanted to be a YEAR from then. I wasn’t basing my decision on my current reality. Fast forward 18 months and I took what I learned from making that initial mastermind investment and created a 10X return on it. 10X! There was no magic formula and no “secret” I learned that created new results, it was 100% a shift in my MINDSET that created new opportunities for growth.
1️⃣ You are going into it hoping that the coach/mentor has a magic formula that will grow your business. Spoiler alert: they don’t. What a mentor will do is give you new ways of thinking about your biz and ideas that you could implement, but to get the full value from a mentor or mastermind YOU still have to do the work.
2️⃣ If making the financial investment will create the wrong kind of pressure, where you’re building from a place of stress or lack instead of abundance. Personally I know that I show UP when my ? is on the line financially.
